Soy-Based Foods

There is no doubt that soy has a lot of benefits. However, it is believed that women who are trying to conceive should keep away from soy. Studies show that soy has compounds which have similar properties to estrogen. These compounds function the way estrogen hormones function. However, the same compounds may decide to destroy or obstruct sperms which are swimming towards the egg.

Foods Rich in Trans Fat

You will have to say goodbye to fast foods, baked cakes, candies, and other food items which have high amounts of trans fats. Medical research reports indicate that trans fats help to lower fertility in women. Evidence suggests that if a woman increases their daily trans fats intake by just 2 percent, they risk decreasing their fertility by 75 percent. This is a huge impact for such a small amount of fat. Foods rich in trans fats increase the amount of blood cholesterol, promote weight gain and obesity, and inhibit the production of insulin. All these effects create a disturbance in biochemistry, leading to a lower rate of fertility and difficulty in conception.

Moong and Radish

Generally, fruits and leafy veggies are great and they are supposed to be consumed daily. If you are struggling to conceive, then you need to avoid raw sprouts such as radish and moong. This is because there is a high possibility that they have bacteria. Note that a bacterial infection from these raw sprouts can easily cause the fetus to get miscarried even before it gets the chance to grow.


These are organic seeds and they have made a surprise entry in this list. Apparently, peas have the same properties as soy. Nutritionists have observed that women who frequently eat peas have a reduced rate of birth. These plant-based seeds contain soya-like chemicals which obstruct the sperms from moving towards the egg. As a matter of fact, peas were used traditionally as a natural contraceptive.



This is a protein-rich food that makes a tasty delicacy. But the fish which we have in our lakes and oceans are no longer healthy. Chemical-filled pollutants are released daily in large masses of water. These harmful chemicals and wastes have high levels of mercury which is harmful to the body. If you are trying to conceive or you are already pregnant, your diet should be restricted to specific types of fishes such as shrimp, cod, and salmon and they should be consumed in safe quantities only in order for you to gain their benefits while minimizing chances of potential side effects.

Raw Eggs

Eggs which are properly boiled are safe for consumption. But if the egg is not properly cooked or its consumed raw, then you are opening your body to salmonella. This virus can directly reduce your chances of getting pregnant. But if you must eat eggs, then they should be organic.

Low-fat Milk and Yogurt

These dairy products may contain high amounts of androgens, the residual male hormones that are left when fat is removed from milk. Taking yogurt or low-fat milk when you are trying to conceive may make the whole process difficult. This is because these drinks may enhance the production of androgens in the body which normally interfere with the menstrual cycle.
